Barbara Langell, 92, of Chippewa Lake, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025. Born February 22, 1932, in Macomb Township, she was the daughter of Albert and Eileen (Browne) Reinhold. On April 23, 1952, Barbara married James Loren Langell, in Detroit. Together, they raised their family in metro Detroit. James preceded her in death in 2003, but their bond and shared joys continued to inspire their family. Barbara dedicated her career to serving as the head baker at Mt. Clemens High School. Weekends were spent at the family cottage in Chippewa Lake, a cherished retreat that eventually became their forever home after retirement. There, Barbara continued to nurture a space filled with love and joy, creating countless happy memories for her grandchildren. Barbaras greatest joy was spending time with her family, particularly enjoying the laughter and excitement of her grandchildren on the lake. Whether preparing snacks during swimming breaks or hosting festive family gatherings, she always brought warmth, kindness, and an open heart to everyone around her. Known for her generous spirit, Barbara gave everyone the benefit of the doubt and spread love unconditionally. She is survived by her children, Susan Pell and James Loren II (Patty) Langell; grandchildren, Shana Mayer, Melissa (Eric) Denslow, Michael (Kassie) Lewis, Stephanie Schut, James Pell, Bobbi Jo Langell, James Paul Langell, James Loren III (Sarah) Langell, and Daniel (Sheila) Langell; and many great-grandchildren who brightened her life immeasurably. She is also survived by her sisters, Viola Phalen and Mary Ogden, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; her son-in-law, Stephen Pell; and her siblings, Richard, Jimmy, and Patty. Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, January 27, 2025, 12 noon, at Daggett Gilbert Funeral Homes, Big Rapids. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. She will be laid to rest at Chippewa Lake Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made according to the wishes of the family.
