Barbara J. Hendricksen, age 72 of Big Rapids, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2020. She was the daughter of James and Genevieve (King) Sullivan, born January 11, 1948, in Grand Rapids where she was baptized and raised in the Catholic Church. Barbara was a 1966 graduate of Ottawa High School in Grand Rapids.
Barbara was a flight attendant retiring after 37 years. She was employed by Trans World Airlines and later American Airlines. She married Joseph Hendricksen on January 26, 1974, in Grand Rapids where they lived until 1984. They moved to Florida until 2004 when Barbara wanted to move back to Michigan to be close to family, which was important to her. Since then they made their home in Big Rapids. Barbs favorite pastime was to people watch and shop.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Joseph Hendricksen of Big Rapids; sister, Cynthia Sullivan of Sanford, Florida; brothers and sisters-in-law, James (Sue) Hendricksen of Grand Rapids, Rosemary (Gary) Kailing of Big Rapids, Richard (Jean) Hendricksen of Marquette, and Thomas (Cindy Hovinga) Hendricksen of Big Rapids; and several nieces, cousins, and friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and brother Brian Sullivan.
Per Barbaras wishes her last act of generosity was fulfilled by being a donor for Gift of Life.
Due to the pandemic, private family services will be planned in the future.
