Barbara Joan (French) Gernant of Big Rapids died peacefully at home on April 14, 2022. She was born in Big Rapids on September 14, 1965 to Lucille and Jim French. She attended St. Mary School, Big Rapids High School and Ferris State University. Barbara graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Personnel Management/Industrial Relations with highest distinction. Barbaras faith in God never wavered. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a great passion for music. She loved little animals, and they adored her. Barbara was much loved by her family who will greatly miss her. Barbara is survived by her father, Jim French; sisters, Mary Curran, Cathy (Mike) Burch, Lucy (Dan) OBrien; niece, Mary Burch; nephews, Doug Burch, Keelan OBrien, Kyle OBrien and Toban OBrien. She was preceded in death by her beloved long-time companion Paul Gernant; mother, Lucille French; and brother-in-law, John Curran. In accordance with Barbaras wishes, she was cremated and no formal services will be held. Funeral and internment will be private. A Mass will be held in her honor at a later date.
