Avery Scott Ward, 33, of Big Rapids, passed away at his home on January 24, 2025. Avery was born on March 4, 1991, to Gregory and Christina (Evarts) Ward.
A member of St. Mary St. Paul Parish in Big Rapids, Avery was known for his warm heart, sharp sense of humor, and love for lifes simple joys. He had a passion for hunting and fishing, and he was a talented cook who loved baking, creating his own rubs, and crafting delicious meals to share with family and friends. Some of his most cherished moments included playing Yahtzee with his mom and cheering on the Detroit Lions with his dad.
Avery is remembered for his humor, kindness, and the joy he brought to those around him. He is survived by his loving parents, Gregory and Christina Ward of Big Rapids; his brother, John (Marielo Puerta) Trumble of Cascade; his nephew, JohnManuel, and nieces, Alana and Valentina. Avery is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Clifford Ward, and his grandparents, Avery and Loretta Ward, and Gordon and Hilda Evarts.
Mass of the Resurrection will take place 11:00 am, Thursday, February 6, 2025 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Big Rapids with Father Jegar Fickel presiding. The family will greet friends one hour prior to Mass on Thursday at the Church. Avery will be laid to rest at Crapo Cemetery in Paris, Michigan this coming spring.
