August H. "Gus" Bolender Jr. age 72, of White Cloud, passed away unexpectedly at his home, Thursday, May 25, 2006. He was born September 23, 1933 to August H. and Amelia (Heidenreich) Bolender Sr. Gus was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He was a journeyman tool and die maker for A.C. Sparkplug in Flint. Gus returned to school, earning a Bachelors and Masters Degree from Ferris State University where he then became a professor in the College of Technology, retiring in December of 1996. Gus is survived by his loving wife, Carol Four children: August "Toby" H. Bolender III of Colorado Springs, CO Jennifer (James) Walter of Vassar Amy Rose of Stanwood Benjamin (Lois) Bolender of Manhattan, KS Nine Grandchildren: August IV, Brandon, Nicole and Samantha Bolender, Erika Pulley, Anna, Jamie and Toby Walter and Cameron Rose Two Sisters: Diane Launius of Flint Patricia (William) Van Etten of Grand Blanc Three Aunts: Ann Heidenreich of Flushing Evelyn Heidenreich of Flushing Gloria Lammy of Mt. Morris And many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gus was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter Samantha Rose. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral home of Big Rapids with Reverend George Taylor officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from noon until the time of the service at 2:00.
