Arnold "Arnie" Lovelette, age 76, died Monday, February 5, 2024 in Grand Rapids. He was born August 17, 1947 in Niles, the son of Arnold and Doris (Miller) Lovelette.Arnie graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1965 and received his Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science from Ferris State University in 1971. He lived in Hillsdale County for many years working as a health inspector. Arnie loved to stay active in the community, volunteering as a firefighter and being on the Hillsdale Planning Committee, and many other organizations to keep himself busy. Arnie later moved to Mecosta County and enjoyed helping the Amish Community. He was a long-haul truck driver for several years and loved to travel across the country. In his free time, Arnie enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping. He loved to take photos, collect model railroads and was an avid reader of science fiction. Arnie cherished the time he spent with family at the cottage on Townline Lake. He will be missed by many.He is survived by his children, Lee (Susan) Lovelette of Lapeer, Suzanne Smith of Olivet, Amy (Greg) Zachow of Litchfield, Erin Bigelow of Hudson; brothers, John (Theresa) Lovelette of Reed City, Sam (Stephanie) Lovelette of Rio Rancho, NM; 11 grandchildren; few great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Arnie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Charlene; sister, Arnelda Watson; grandson, Bryce VanHeerde.Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 9, 2024 at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
