Arlo James Bentley, age 86, of Sears (Barryton) passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at his home with his family at his side. On, November 30, 1928, Joseph and Floy Bentley welcomed Arlo into their lives. He has resided in the Barryton area the majority of his life. Arlo held various jobs throughout his life which helped mold his character. One of his first jobs, in the 50's was volcanizing buggy tires. He worked in Flint for 9 years but longed to come back home where he could work locally. Arlo ran the Carnation Plant in Barryton for 8 years before it closed and also was a cook at Northern Trails. He also worked in a battery factory, put in drain fields, worked in the pulp woods and retired as a farmer, just to name a few. Arlo married Mary McNeilly on August 20, 1971 in Sylvan Township, Osceola County, MI. His main hobbies were camping and hunting and fishing with his children and grandkids. Arlo is survived by his loving wife Mary and children; Rita Taylor, Anna (Jerry) Hill both of Barryton, Richard (Linda) Bentley, Joan (Gary) Farrell both of Sears, Joe (Laurie) Bentley of Chippewa Lake, Charles (Kristi) Bentley of Sears; step children, Lisa (Kary) Houghton of LasVegas, Larry (Vicki) Walter of Cadillac and Linda Walter of Evart; two sisters, Mona Bunting and Betty Balcer both of Sears; one brother Harold (Candee) Bentley of Barryton; and grand, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws and beloved friends that will miss his excellent baking. Arlo was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Dale Bentley and a grandson Jacob Charles Bentley. In lieu of flowers contributions in Arlo's name can be made to the family or Spectrum Health Home Hospice.
