Arlene E. Bullock, age 83 of Big Rapids, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Altercare of Big Rapids. She was born March 30, 1934 in LeRoy, the daughter of Leon and Myrtle (Austin) Crawford. Arlene graduated from Tustin High School in 1952. She was honorably discharged after serving two years in the United States Army.
Arlene married Reverend Wayne E. Bullock on November 21, 1956 in Tustin. Together they raised their family while serving six different churches throughout the North Michigan Conference of the Free Methodist Church. During this time, Arlene prepared the meals for the summer camps that were held by the conference for over 30 years. She was also employed by the Boyne City and Stanwood Public Schools as a cook, retiring in 1996.
Arlene and Wayne enjoyed traveling the south and south western US; especially spending ten winters in Texas. She liked the outdoors; hunting, fishing, camping, and bird watching. Arlene sang in a quartet and was also an accomplished pianist and organist.
She loved her family and the time they spent together. Arlene will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Reverend Wayne Bullock of Big Rapids; three children, Paul (Janice) Bullock of Evart, Shirley (Mark) Hunter of Ludington, and Mark (Cindy) Bullock of Evart; six grandchildren, Michelle Bullock, Lisa (Tate) Feeney, Nicole Bullock, Ryan (Kim) Hunter, Amanda (fianc David Reynolds) Hunter, and Cody (Chelsea) Bullock; one great-granddaughter, Kailyn; five siblings, Betsy Hall of LeRoy, Art (Yolanda) Crawford of Colorado, George (Deb) Crawford of Cadillac, Jim (Nancy) Crawford of LeRoy, and Karen (Rodney) Larr of Fife Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Stanwood Free Methodist Church, where she was a member, with Reverend Joe Martin and Reverend Mark Bullock officiating. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 16th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the Church. Arlene will be laid to rest at the Stanwood Cemetery.
