Arleene O. Sharp, age 87 of Morley, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Spectrum Health Hospital - Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. She was born July 29, 1926 in Lakeview, the daughter of Earl and Gertrude (Gast) Davison. Arleene graduated from Morley High School. She married Chester Sharp in 1947 and together they raised their family in the Morley area and were members of the Northland United Methodist Church. Arleene enjoyed trying new recipes, gardening and crocheting. She loved to dance and was still currently attending the dances held at the Sand Lake VFW. Arleene is survived by her five children, Janice Alt of Sparta, Larry (Deborah) Sharp of Mecosta, Jim (Deanna) Sharp of TN, Art Sharp of Morley and Virginia Cowles of TX; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Arlu Sias of CA; a brother, Carl Davison of OR; a sister-in-law, Helen Sharp of Big Rapids; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chester Sharp; sons-in-law, Archie Alt and Douglas Cowles. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2014 at the Northland United Methodist Church in Stanwood with Pastor Dominic Tommy officiating. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 18th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Burial will be at Higbee Cemetery near Morley. Memorial contributions may be made in Arleene's name to the Northland United Methodist Church.
