Ardith "Ardie" Creighton, age 66, went to be with her Lord and her son Gary on Friday, November 20, 2015 at her home near Stanwood. Ardie was born December 29, 1948 to Mike and Doris (Hollenbeck) Dysard in Big Rapids. She attended Morley/Stanwood Schools. On February 25, 1967 she married Mike Creighton and they were blessed with five children plus a foreign exchange student, Simone Melo from Brazil, that has forever remained a family member. They lived their entire married life in the Morley-Stanwood area. Ardie and Mike were foster parents for ten years. She was a member of the Stanwood Eagles and was active in many local civic organizations such as the Buffalo Barbeque Committee and the Mecosta Memorial Hospital Guild. Ardie greatly enjoyed their cabin at Wolverine, surrounded by family and friends. Ardie is survived by her husband of 49 years, Mike; son Ron (Julie) Creighton of Stanwood; daughters, Laura Cox of Morley, Mandy (Dennis) VanderZand of Lakeview, April (Brent) Stressman of Morley and Christina (Ron) Thurston of Morley; 14 grandchildren, Shane Stewart, Steven Creighton, Shelby Creighton, Shian Creighton, Veronika Creighton, Devin Thurston, Blake Thurston, Mikey VanderZand, Erin VanderZand, Fred VanderZand, Derek Stressman, Kenady Stressman, Kelsey (Matthew) Zemaitis and Courtney Cox; six great-grandchildren; Brody, Ellie Raye, Emily, Klayton, Skylyn and Keygan; two brothers; Bernard (Jean) Elandt of Florida and Ken (Leanne) Dysard of Saranac; two sisters, Estelle Derwin of Newaygo and Roxana Peacock of Rodney; father-in-law, Frederick Creighton of Stanton and many special nieces and nephews. Ardie was preceded in death by her parents Mike and Doris Dysard, a son Gary Creighton and a brother-in-law Louis Derwin. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2015 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Lynn Winans officiating. The family will greet friends on Sunday, November 22nd from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Stanwood Cemetery.
