Ardith Ellen Chapman, of Barryton, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, at the age of 90. She was born on January 18, 1929 in Alma, MI the daughter of Otho and Eva (Flemming) Walter. Ardith graduated in 1947 from Vermontville High School. On March 12th of the same year she married Herbert Chapman in Vermontville and they made their home in the Lansing area until 1984 when they moved to Barryton. Ardith loved numbers and accounting came easy for her. She retired from the State of Michigan where she was an accountant for 20 plus years. Ardith was an avid stamp collector and looked forward to going to auctions and flea markets. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting when she was able. Ardith was happy to have a computer to play games on and didnt shy away from using cellphones. Ardiths family will not forget her feisty spirit and determination. She is survived by: two children, Jeffrey and Sherry of Potterville and Susan Hamlin of Perry; two siblings, Wayne Walter and Gayla Pugh; eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren with one on the way. She also leaves behind her chihuahua, Pepper. Ardith was preceded in death by: her parents, Otho and Eva; her husband, Herbert; two daughters, Sally Morgan and Bonnie Dotson; five brothers and sisters, Nina, Ernest, Ruth, Faith and Darryl and her beloved chihuahua, Sprite. Ardith will be laid to rest with her husband at Pine River Cemetery in Blanchard. Per her wishes, no formal services will be held. Arrangements and care were entrusted to the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton.
