Archie D. LaBree, age 68 of Tennessee, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018. He was born April 13, 1950 in Big Rapids, the son of Donald and Ida (Truman) LaBree. Archie graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1968. He served his country honorably, stationed in Korea with the United States Army. Archie continued his military career with the Michigan Army National Guard, retiring after 23 years of service. He married Sally Haney in 1972 in Big Rapids where they raised their family. Archie was a contractor specializing in roofing and construction. Following retirement, Archie and Sally moved to Manchester, Tennessee in 2016. He enjoyed carpentry work, the outdoors, working in the yard, and hanging out with family and friends. Archie and Sally liked to travel the United States with the occasional trips to the casinos along the way. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sally LaBree of Tennessee; two children, Chad (Susan) LaBree of Texas and Tamara (Bobby) Wines of Tennessee; five grandchildren, Cailey, Jordan, Dakota, Amber, and Nichole; three great-grandchildren, Greyson, Lily, and Layla; sister, Arlene (Duane) Lancaster of Florida; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Archie was preceded in death by his parents, loving grandma, Emma Truman, and sister Emma LaBree. A graveside service will take place at 10:00 am Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Pine Plains Cemetery in Big Rapids. The family will greet friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday, May 23rd at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Archies name to Susan P. Wheatlake Regional Cancer Center in Reed City.
