Annette Evangeline Jungck, 78, of Big Rapids, died peacefully at her home in the loving care of her family and Hospice of Michigan on October 9, 2012 and went to her beloved Lord. Annette was born on June 22, 1934 in Ettrick, Wisconsin to Cecile and Keith Hardie. She graduated from Melrose High School, Wisconsin, attended Luther College, Iowa, the University of Wisconsin in LaCrosse and later earned her degree at Ferris State University before getting a Master's in Social Work at Western Michigan University. She married her husband of 57 years, Stan Jungck, in 1955. After moving to Big Rapids in 1966, while raising her three children and attending college, she was an assistant day care teacher at St. Andrews before becoming the director of Project Starburst. Then she became the Juvenile Probation Officer for Mecosta County helping her "kids" to "become more than they could be." At the request of some attorneys she applied for and became the Friend of the Court for Mecosta and Osceola Counties for 13 years. While in that capacity her constant prayers were that her decisions would be the best for the children involved in the divorce. Upon retirement she joined the social work faculty at Ferris until 1996, when she truly retired. She is survived by her husband, Stan, two sons, Mark (Lori) of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, and Paul (Valerie) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and a daughter, Heidi Pickett, of Big Rapids, Michigan, currently in Japan, and unofficially adopted daughter, Tracy Carr of Nashville, Tennessee; three grandsons, Hans Jungck of Tucson, Arizona, Ren Jungck (Mary) of Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, and Hudson Jungck of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and three granddaughters, Anja (Miles) Drogseth of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Heather Pickett (Mark) Bzdok, of Marquette, Michigan, and Pearl Pickett of Ann Arbor, Michigan. She has two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Dianne Kraemer and Margaret Young, and a brother, Robert Hardie, all of Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Zion Jungck. She has a second family, her beloved ecumenical Bible study group she has met with weekly since 1979. Annette was actively involved in various ministries of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was also on the boards of Project Starburst, MOARC, Hope Network and Habitat for Humanity. She truly displayed the love and grace of God to all she came into contact with. The funeral service, with Pastor Clay Bates officiating, will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Big Rapids, Michigan on Saturday October 13, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation is from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 12, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church and 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on October 13, also at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Internment will occur at Beaver Creek Lutheran Church, Ettrick, Wisconsin at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Healing Garden of Immanuel Lutheran Church (726 Fuller Ave., Big Rapids, MI 49307) or to Project Starburst (120 S. State St., Big Rapids, MI 49307).
