Andrew Theodore Payne, 49, passed away at home in Battle Creek, Michigan on October 27, 2025. He was born in Alberta, Canada to William and Judith (Schlaack) Payne on December 17, 1975.

Andrew's greatest source of pride and joy in this world was his daughter, Julie. Next to that, his work as a welder within the Sheet Metal Workers Local 292 Union brought him great joy. In his free time, Andrew spent a great deal of time outdoors, whether he was hunting, fishing, hiking, two-tracking, camping, or flying kites. Andrew was a man who would drop whatever he was doing to help any friend or relative in a time of need even if it meant driving clear across the state in the dead of winter.

Andrew is survived by his mother: Judy Payne; siblings: Jerry Payne and Teresa Payne; daughter: Julie Payne and her mother, Sarah; nephews: Kyler and Bramyn Payne; nieces: Caitlyn Payne, Christine Meeuwes, and Brynlee Payne; as well as many cousins and good friends.

Preceding Andrew in death are his father: William Payne; and maternal grandmother: Theresa Ellen Schlaack.

Arrangements are in the care of Daggett Gilbert Funeral Homes, Big Rapids. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with a time of sharing at 4:00 PM.
