Anastasia (Annie) Madonna (Letson) Sherman, 98, peacefully slipped away to her heavenly home on April 18, 2020 with family at her side. Annie was born in Vernon Township, Isabella Co., on March 17, 1922 to Hamilton Littlefield and Mary Agnes (Mitchell) Letson.
Anastasia was the 8th of nine children, and enjoyed growing up in a large family with loving parents. She was married to Arthur James Sherman, for over 57 years, until he passed in 2003.
Art and Annie raised their children on their farm in Isabella County. They worked hard together and enjoyed life on the farm through the generations. Family was important to them - from caring for their own parents and raising their six children, to delighting in their 21 grandchildren, as well as many great and great-great grandchildren. They loved their family, friends and neighbors.
Annie was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She had many talents and was known for: her positivity, good humor, quick wit, and catchy chuckle. Her creative and artistic mind allowed her to do many things for her family and friends. She was always busy and enjoyed: sewing, cooking, canning, quilting, gardening, and so much more. Everyone enjoyed her delicious homemade meals. Family, friends, and charities benefited from her talents, receiving many beautiful handmade items. Annie was an excellent seamstress. She created her own patterns and made everything from her own childrens clothes and special doll clothes, to her daughters wedding dresses and entire wedding party attire. She lovingly sewed hundreds of beautiful quilts for family members and friends who will also be using her handmade potholders for years to come.
Annie was physically active and able to live independently in her own home, completing her last quilt just days before her 98th birthday. She enjoyed her recent birthday with family and remained mentally sharp until her passing.
Anastasia doted on her family and will be greatly missed by: her children, Patricia (Gary) Goodfellow of Sears, Norma (Bruce) Jennings of Christiansburg, VA, Margie (Larry) OToole of Parker, CO, Alan (Laura) Sherman of Barryton and Shirley (Eldon) Sprague of Barryton.
Anastasia was preceded in death by: her husband, Arthur; son, Raymond, her parents and siblings.
Due to the current situation a private service is being planned. Interment will be at N. Brinton Cemetery.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to hospice or the charity of your choice, in Anastasia Shermans name. Arrangements and care were entrusted to the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton.
