Amber L. Howell, age 38 of Chippewa Lake, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 5, 2020. She was born April 8, 1982, in Haverfordwest, Wales, the daughter of James Joseph and Carol Ann (Quigley) Waters. Amber was a 2000 graduate from Mount Pleasant High School. She then attended Grand Valley State University where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice. Amber married her high school sweetheart, Daniel Howell, on September 27, 2010, in Petoskey and together they raised their two boys in Chippewa Lake. Amber was employed by Womens Information Services, Inc. (WISE) in Big Rapids and most recently she was a substitute teacher at Barryton Elementary. Amber had a positive personality that the children adored. Amber enjoyed crafting, especially making t-shirts, and boating on the lake. She was a loving mother that always put her childrens best interest first. Amber loved spending time with her family and having dinners together. She will be greatly missed. Amber is survived by her husband of nine years, Daniel and their two children, Paul James "PJ" and Able Howell, all at home in Chippewa Lake; parents, James and Carol Waters of Mount Pleasant; sister, Lo (Amber) Waters of Grand Rapids; brother, Sean Waters of Scotland; paternal grandmother, Jacqueline Waters of Bay City; mother-in-law, Janice Howell of Chippewa Lake; two sisters-in-law, Heather Brisson of Mount Pleasant and Holly (Joe) Curry of Joliet, Illinois; two nephews, Connor and Cooper Curry; biological father, Malcolm (Linda) Baker and their children, Charlotte and Andrew Baker, all of England; as well as many extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Derek and Mary Quigley, paternal grandfather James John Waters, uncle Michael Francis Waters, and father-in-law Paul Howell. A memorial gathering will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2020 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in BIG RAPIDS with a Time of Sharing beginning at 1:00 p.m. Please note the memorial gathering will be held outside following the Governors Orders and Guidelines.
