J. Allen Navarre, age 89 formerly of Barryton passed away Thursday, April 13, 2006 in Alma. He was born September 13, 1916 in Coldwater Township to James and Vera (Allen) Navarre. Allen graduated from Weidman High School in 1934 and married Dorothy Letson April 2, 1938. He established a Ford dealership in Barryton in 1948 which he operated for 30 years. In retirement he enjoyed 16 winters in the Florida Keys where he was an avid fisherman and 18 years in the Bradenton, Florida area where he made many dear friends. Allen was very active in civic duties and was involved in several organizations including: the Odd Fellow Lodge, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce and was a life member of the James A. Cliff Lodge 424 Free and Accepted Masons of Weidman. Allen was a great outdoorsman and enjoyed several years of flying his own planes, golfing and the joy of travel. During his life Allen possessed a special gift for balancing hardwork and giving loving time to family and friends. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2006 at the Barryton Church of God with Pastor John Mellish officiating. Burial will be at North Brinton Cemetery in Lake. The family will greet friends on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Barryton Church of God. Memorial contributions in Allen's name may be made to Masonic Pathways in Alma.
