Alice J. (Fowler) Selfridge, 84, passed peacefully in her home in Reed City, MI on November 12, 2025.

Alice grew up in Ashley, MI with four sisters and is survived by two of them – Susan Fabus and Ruth Crowell. Her husband, Ron Selfridge, passed before her in 2015. She is survived by three children; Christine Simonetta, Cindy Bryant, Kevin Selfridge, and four granddaughters.

Valedictorian at Ashley High School in the Class of 1958, Alice continued to CMU where she earned a Bachelor's degree in education. She became an English teacher and coach in Flint, Bath, and Saranac, where she delighted in directing middle-school plays. Passionate about girls' sports, she pioneered the girls' basketball program in Bath and is still appreciated for her coaching legacy. After retiring from teaching, her love for reading inspired her to work at the Big Rapids public library where she helped patrons trace their genealogy and entertained children during their reading hour.

With her positive outlook, Alice was grateful for life's blessings and could often be heard humming her way through the day. She carried her playful yet competitive spirit with her to her favorite pastimes, including cards, marbles, bowling, ping-pong, and watching Spartan basketball. Fun was number one, but winning made it even sweeter!

She was active at her church, Reed City Church of the Nazarene (RCnaz) and loved to volunteer at their Thursday evening Shepherd's Table, food truck, and the community food pantry. Per her wishes, memorial gifts may be given to RCnaz, c/o (or Memo'd to) Shepherd's Table in lieu of flowers.

Arrangements are in the care of Daggett Gilbert Funeral Homes. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 11:00AM, at the Reed City Church of the Nazarene, with a luncheon to follow. Visitation will take place one hour prior at 10:00 AM. Visitation will also be held at the church on Monday, November 17, 2025 at 2:00 PM - 4:00 pm and 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
