Alice M. Burchfield, age 86 of Big Rapids, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2008 at Altercare of Big Rapids. She was born May 1, 1922 in Morley the daughter of Grant and Mary (Wilcox) Deyo. Alice graduated from Morley High School and married Gerard Troupe. They made their home on Woodward Avenue on a farm just outside of Big Rapids; Gerard preceded Alice in death in 1962. For many years Alice worked at St. Mary's Schools in Big Rapids as a cook. In later years Alice moved to her home on the Muskegon River where she loved to fish and tend to her flower garden. She is survived by,Three children, Diane Benson of Morley, Theresie Ogg of Rogers Heights, Jerry (Madeline) Troupe of Morley, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren,a sister, Betty Anderson of Morley and many nieces, nephews and countless neighbors and friends including John and Nancy Doyle and Pauline and Michael Rampanelli. Besides her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her second husband, Bob Burchfield, a daughter, Virginia Platz, a grandson, James Benson, 4 sisters, Lula Nelson, Lillian Wright, Dorothy Deyo and Edna Deyo and a brother, Frank Deyo. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 26th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Philip Bongard officiating. The family will greet friends today (Tuesday) at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Spring burial will be a Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids.
