Alice R. Bigelow, age 102 of Morley, passed away Friday November 9, 2018. She was born August 30, 1916 near Duluth, MN the daughter of Lawrentz and Margarette (Neilson) Jensen. Alices family was burned out during the Cloquet fire of Minnesota and the family moved to Michigan in 1924. She graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1935. On March 7, 1936 Alice married Royce Bigelow in Howard City, together they made their home in the Morley-Stanwood area. She worked at Ferris State University, in dinning services for many years.
For fun, Alice loved to dance, especially the waltz and square dancing.
She is survived by her beloved family, a daughter, Margaret (Mike) Hall of Cedar Springs; three sons, Albert Bigelow of Morley, Kenneth Bigelow of Plover, WI, Wesley (Mary) Bigelow of Morley; twelve grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Betty) Jensen of Stanwood; many nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Royce on October 19, 1985; two sons, Glen and Melvin; three brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Jon White officiating. Burial will be at the Aetna Township Cemetery in Morley. The family will greet friends on Friday, at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
