Obituary

Alger Rex Daggett, age 92 of Barryton, MI passed into Glory with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Masonic Pathways of Alma, MI. Al was born in Portland, MI, on July 25, 1931 to Milo Rex and Ruby A. (Pruden) Daggett. When Al was just 14, he found the girl of his dreams, Barbara Jean Smith. They married at the ripe old age of 18 and enjoyed 70 years together until Barbaras passing in 2019. During those years, Al worked at Oldsmobile in product engineering, thinking up solutions and improvements for future car models. He HAD to stay busy working on one of his projects or volunteering his time so he took on many titles including : mechanic, soldier, gas station owner, racer, Daddy, Boy Scout Leader, Barryton Village President, Mason, Fireman, Refrigeration business owner, Grandpa, fix-anything-guy, Snowmobile Trail Boss, "Snail Mail" mailman (at Masonic Pathways) and countless more! Al was preceded in death by his parents, Milo and Ruby Daggett, infant daughter Brenda Joy, and sisters Jean Van Alstine and Doris Holland. Al is survived by his four children, Denver E. (Aiga) Daggett of Metamora, MI, Ellen J. (Lynn) Pyle of Greenville, MI, Carol F. (Steve) Peacock of Ocoee, FL, and Linda G. DeForest of Lake Wales, FL; brother Donald (Edie) Daggett of Lansing; sister-in-law Donna Hopkins of Lansing. 13 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Contributions can be made in Als name to the Barryton Church of God Youth Group. A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Barryton Church of God. Officiating, Pastor John Mellish. Arrangements and care have been entrusted to Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton.
