Alfred Willis Weller, age 94 of Big Rapids, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2006 at Evergreen Terrace in Big Rapids. He was born July 19, 1912 in Gaines Township, Kent County. He married Eleanor Munroe on February 6, 1937. After working at Motor Coach in Grand Rapids for a number of years, Alfred worked as an engineer in the Instrument Division of Lear Siegler from 1954 to 1980, coming out of retirement many times to assist with various projects. Survivors include his wife of 69 years; Eleanor Two sons; Thomas (Mary Jo) Weller of Lexington Park, MD Mark (Laura) Weller of Chippewa Lake and four grandchildren. Alfred was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. (noon) Tuesday, September 19th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Reverend Gerhard deBock officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grand Rapids. Memorial contributions to the Eagle Village Chapel Program or Hospice of Michigan may be left at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids where Alfred's family will greet friends on Tuesday, from 11:00 a.m. until services at 12:00 p.m. noon.
