Alfred "Al" Schoepfer, age 89 of Big Rapids, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at Spectrum Health, Reed City Campus. He was born October 5, 1916 in Detroit to Frances and Rose (Brugmeister) Schoepfer. Al was honorably discharged from the United States Army serving during World War II in the European Theater. He made his home in Oak Park and worked for Chrysler Corporation as an engineer until his retirement over twenty years ago. Al was preceded in death by his first wife Delphine in 1984. Following her death he immediately moved to Big Rapids to live near his family. He joined Fawn and George Daggett, working with them in the funeral home and making many friends throughout the community. Al married Eloise Fayette on February 27, 1988 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Big Rapids. A faithful Lutheran his entire life, Al was a proud and dedicated member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. He is survived by his loving wife; Eloise Niece; Joanne Vincent of Rochester His church family and many other extended family including Fawn Daggett Chris Daggett and Steve Swix all of Big Rapids Ann & Gary Gilbert of Mecosta Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 22nd at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Big Rapids with Pastor Robert F. Garrels officiating. Burial will be at Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids. The family will greet friends today, (Thursday) at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
