Alexander J. Ruiz, age 29 of Adrian formerly of Big Rapids, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, September 10, 2022. He was born in Big Rapids on July 12, 1993, the son of Martine and Debra (Wessell) Ruiz. Alex was a 2011 graduate from Big Rapids High School. He earned his Associates Degree in Business Management and Supervision from Grand Rapids Community College. Alex had various employments in the restaurant industry. He was a dedicated and hard worker at every job, with his favorite being Dairy Queen. Alex adored animals. He donated to multiple animal organizations, adopted animals, and looked forward to going to zoos. Alex was a talented saxophone player and gamer. He collected different book series and enjoyed eating good Chinese food. Alex had a contagious laugh that was appreciated by his best friend Brandy Alexander. He loved his family and will be greatly missed by them. Alex is survived by his parents, Marty and Debbie Ruiz of Big Rapids; two sisters, Amber (Mark) Dykstra of Grand Rapids and Alicia (Jerel Brock) Ruiz of Idaho; four nieces and nephews, Kyler and Messer Webber and Natalie and Easton Dykstra; maternal grandparents, Rolland and Catherine Wessell of Big Rapids and Estella Shereda of Free Soil; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Robert Shereda and his furry friends Avalanche, Ace, and Archie. A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2022 at Bethel Family Missionary Church, 515 W. Lincoln Ave., Reed City, with Pastor Terry Grabow officiating.
