Alda Helen Dunham (Felker), age 92 of Big Rapids, was born on July 3, 1925 in Detroit to William and Marie (Hoog) Felker. She passed away comfortably at The Brook in Big Rapids on Friday, September 29, 2017. Alda graduated from Redford High School in 1943 and furthered her education by attending business school. Aldas first job was for Detroit Edison. She held various secretarial positions throughout her life and was also a darn good waitress when her children were young. Alda married Joseph J. Dunham on March 4, 1949; he passed away in 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents and son, Kurt in 2010. Alda is survived by her daughter, Carol (Carmen) Johnson and son, Jay (Crystal) Dunham; six grandchildren, Bryce Johnson, Kaitlin (Paul) Fakler, Christina (Ben) Sova, Derek, Carl, and Kevin Dunham; three great-grandchildren, Savannah and Olivia Sova and Lennon Fakler. She was always proud of her Finnish heritage, with roots going back to the Upper Peninsula Copper Mines. Alda was a loving and caring mother, wife, and grandmother. She loved having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren come visit her, as it always put a smile on her face. Alda enjoyed her family and friends throughout her life and will be greatly missed. Cremation will take place. Alda will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta (15501 Dickman Rd. Augusta, MI 49012) at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2017. The family would like to invite those who are able to make it to a luncheon after the burial. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to Spectrum Health Hospice.
