Alberta A. Pike, age 95 of Morley, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2014 at her home. She was born on June 23, 1919 in Austin Township, Mecosta Co., MI to William and Onlee (Johnson) Wilber. Alberta married Avery Pike on March 24, 1940 at the home of her parents. The Pike's raised their daughters in Morley where they have resided since the late 1940's. Alberta looked forward to spending time with other community wives in the Secret Pal Club. She enjoyed going out to lunch or meeting at the Morley Senior Center where she eagerly met up with friends. Alberta's abilities to cook and bake brought many family and friends together for gatherings she would host. When able she enjoyed tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, canning, embroidering and sewing. Alberta is survived by four daughters; JoAnn Mitchell of Morley, Evelyn Cloud of St. Clair, MO, Joyce (Gerald) Johnston and Nancy Nichols both of Morley, 13 grandchildren, Kevin (Sandy) McGrath, Darcy (Kenn) Vredenburg, Belinda Mitchell, Michelle (Don) Robbins, Charlaut Lansing, John (Kelly) Cloud, Cynthia (Larry) Farris, Deanna Patteen, Arden Johnston, Brian Johnston, Vince Nichols, Mark (Tonya) Nichols and Jamie Nichols; 30 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Alberta was preceded in death by her husband Avery; her parents; three sisters, Ione Jackson, Beatrice Burden and Evelyn Bassett; three brothers, Bryce, Donald and Dean Wilber; and two sons-in-law, Linus "Mitch" Mitchell and Raymond Cloud. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2014 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Roger Cooper officiating. Interment will be at Rustford Cemetery in Morley. The family will greet friends on Sunday, November 30th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in Alberta's may be made to the choice of the donor.
