Albert J. Krasson, age 83 of Big Rapids, passed away peacefully at his home with loved ones at his side on Thursday, April 2, 2009. He was born December 26, 1925, in Nanticoke, PA to Stanley and Anna (Telehonich) Krasson. He was a decorated officer in the United States Navy and honorably discharged near the end of WWII. Al married the late Magdalene "Maggie" Sherman in 1963 and together they made their home in Dearborn before moving to Big Rapids in 1994. He was a member of St. Paul Campus Parish and the Knights of Columbus. Al was also a proud member of the VFW and American Legion Post. He loved camping and was a craftsman by trade. Al is survived by his loving family; daughters, Gay (Ronald) Michalski of Baldwin and Kimberly Krasson of Garden City; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, George Krasson of FL and John (Selma) Krasson of PA; sisters, Gertrude Dekutoski of FL and Patricia (Richard) Kievlak of PA and several nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at St. Paul Campus Parish (1 Damascus Rd.) in Big Rapids, with Father Lam T. Le officiating. The family will greet friends at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids on Wednesday (day of service) from 12:00 p.m. (noon) until 1:45 p.m.; then they will go in procession to St. Paul's Campus Parish for the 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial. The service will conclude at the church with Military Honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #98 of Big Rapids. Memorial contributions in Al's name may be given to Hospice of Michigan.
