Obituary

Albert R. Hyder, age 86, of Remus went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at the Laurels of Mt. Pleasant after a long illness. He was born in Remus on July 31, 1927 the son of Homer and Ruth (Pepeake) Hyder. Albert graduated from Remus High School and married Marjorie Diehl in May of 1947. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Marjory of Remus; four children: Allen (Ilene) Hyder of Millbrook, Nancy Hyder of Mt. Pleasant, Cathy (Clinton) Van Orden of Mt. Pleasant and Emily (Ken) Wolfe of Branson; 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and close friends. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Doris, a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren. Albert was proud of his 50 years of leadership in 4-H and his flower and vegetable gardens. Albert loved to square dance and for over 40 years brought joy to peoples lives throughout Christmas time by suiting up as Santa Claus for private parties and in shopping malls. He was an active member at New Hope United Methodist Church in Mecosta. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2013 at New Hope United Methodist Church (7296 9 Mile Road Mecosta)with Pastor Greg Buchner officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Isabella County 4-H, Isabella Co. Commission on Aging or Woodland Hospice.
