Alan C. Fountain 68 of Mecosta passed away July 20, 2006 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Remus on Oct. 5, 1937 the son of Clarance and Hulda (Thren) Fountain. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers: Milton, Marvin and Gene. He served in the Air Force prior to moving to Mecosta. He was involved in many organizations and local activities. He was at one time a member of the Mecosta Morton Fire Department and the Mecosta County Sheriff's Posse. He was also one of the first members of the Mecosta Morton Township Rescue Squad and involved in the Knights of Columbus. He also owned and operated a local business for a number of years. He retired from Michigan Bell Telephone in 1991 after 30 years of service. He was a trustee on the village board of Mecosta before taking the position of clerk and held this title up until his death. He is survived by his wife Janet Fountain: 3 sons Edward of Mecosta, Jeffery (Heidi) Fountain of Las Vegas, Nevada and Brent (Lynn) Fountain of Cleveland, Ohio, one sister Verdean Weide of Mt. Pleasant, four grandchildren; Sara, Jack, Barry and Andrea, and one great grandson Joshua. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Monday, July 24th at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Remus. Visitation will also be on Tuesday, July 25th from 10 to 11 AM with a funeral mass at 11:00. Father Charles Hall will be officiating and a luncheon will follow.
