Agnes J. Lyons age 77 of Big Rapids, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Altercare. She was born on October 3, 1937 in Big Rapids, the daughter of Ralph Sr. and Julia Martin (Pickell). Agnes graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1957. On September 10, 1960, she married Roland Lyons and together they raised their family in the Big Rapids area. Agnes' love for life was manifest in all the things she enjoyed doing. She loved traveling, camping, downhill skiing and family gatherings. Agnes considered her loving family to be the true moments of her life. She was preceded in death by her father; and sister, Florence Balavitch. Agnes is survived by her husband of 54 years, Roland Lyons of Big Rapids; two children, John (Julia) Lyons of Belmont and Jodie Lyons of Big Rapids; four grandchildren, Nick (Chelsea) Lyons, Ashley (Adam) Howe, Jacob Lyons and Allison Allen; two great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Benjamin Howe; two brothers, Ralph Jr. (Shirley) Martin and Earl Martin; a sister, Barbara Gilmore; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. A memorial service will take place 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2015 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Agnes' name may be made to Spectrum Health Hospice.
